I’m Michael.Gamböck — a visual artist and designer.

I craft visual experiences for music, theatre, events and museums. From large-scale projections and immersive installations to motion design, VR and fulldome films — my work merges sound, light and movement into unique, emotionally resonant experiences.

how I work

I work at the intersection of visuals, sound and physical space.

My projects often start with a place, a piece of music, or a narrative idea. From there, I develop visual systems that respond to rhythm, movement, architecture, and atmosphere.

I’m especially interested in immersive formats — projections that wrap around spaces, visuals that evolve over time, and environments where audiences don’t just watch, but feel part of the experience.

I studied Interactive Media at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg (Germany).

The program was a close symbiosis of design and programming, with a strong foundation in design basics and user experience thinking.

My personal focus during my studies was artistic motion design — exploring how image, motion, and interaction can merge into spatial experiences and fit perfectly to the sound.

I enjoy working where creativity, design and technology overlap.

I combine conceptual thinking with hands-on implementation, building visual systems rather than fixed images. This allows my work to stay flexible, responsive, and open to unexpected results.

TouchDesigner

node-based real-time software for interactive visuals

TouchDesigner is my main tool for creating immersive and spatial visuals. It allows me to combine visual experimentation with logic, systems thinking, and real-time interaction.

Working with TouchDesigner has influenced my mindset: instead of starting with a fixed vision, I build frameworks that evolve. Imperfections and accidents are not problems, but part of the creative process.

After Effects

2D animation, compositing and motion design

After Effects is where ideas become precise. It allows me to shape timing, rhythm, and visual detail with great accuracy.
