echo — a sonicsphere

The music visualisation ECHO – a sonicsphere in a spherical projection is designed for viewing in VR-glasses and fulldome. A bassy HipHop-Instrumental is visualized by a journey through a vinyl disc.

This is a 360° video. For the best experience switch to the YouTube App and there to full resolution.

visual journey

The viewer becomes the needle of a record player, moving along the groove and discovering a microscopic world of dust and fine structures. What begins as a realistic representation gradually transforms into abstract shapes, colors, and motion.

collaboration

ECHO – a sonicsphere is a music visualization by Franziska Hauber and Michael Gamböck, designed for spherical projection in VR headsets and fulldome environments.

The track was created by Augsburg-based artist Tom Simonetti (mycrotom), who reinterpreted one of his earlier works specifically for this project.

visual feature

One significant difference of ECHO compared to other VR-Productions is the use of depth of field. The viewing eye is directed and influenced by this conceptional method.

background

ECHO – a sonicsphere was developed as my bachelor project.

Driven by a strong fascination for analog media, I chose the vinyl record as a starting point — translating its physical structure and tactile qualities into an immersive digital experience.
